Shipping bill is prepared by the exporter and it is an important document required by the customs authorities for executing the shipment.  It consists of the necessary details pertaining to the shipment. Some of them are:

  1. Destination of buyers port

  2. Name of the vessel

  3. Details of buyer and exporter

  4. Details of agent or forwarder

  5. Price

  6. Total weight and value etc...

 

Depending upon the exporter's requirements, the type of shipping bill are:

  1. Free shipping bill - an export duty not to be paid for the goods

  2.  Dutiable shipping bill - export duty to be paid for the goods

  3.  Drawback shipping bill – the customs drawback is claimed against the goods exported.

  4.  Bond or Shipment Ex-Bond shipping bill – Re-export the imported goods under an agreement or bond.
