Sampling is done by the exporter to get approval from the buyer and it is made by sampling tailors. Samples are recommended by the buyer to assess the product’s quality, design and its characteristics. Different types of samples are examined by the buyer at a different stage of production. To confirm the order placement the sample will be good for the buyer preference and special care is taken while making the samples.
Order placement:
The order placement or confirmation should be in the form of PO sheet (purchase order) or order sheet from the buyer with office seal of the buyer. After verifying the order sheet, the exporter has to send a copy of order sheet with office seal of the exporter. It is always recommended to start the order after receiving the order sheet. In case the order is done through bank guarantee start the order after receiving the LC (Letter Credit) from the buyer.
Sampling:

1. Proto sample:
Proto sample the first sample made by the exporter after receiving the specification sheet from the buyer. This sample is approved by the buyer for the bulk production. Proto sample is also called as red seal sample.
2. Size set sample:
After the approval of proto sample, the patterns for other sizes are sketched by the pattern master or pattern maker using CAD and then checked for the fit and measurements. The size set samples are approved by the QC of the company or buyer’s QC. The cutting should be started after the approval of size set samples.
3. Pre-production sample:
The pre-production sample is also known as pilot run sample. This sampling is done before the bulk production and this takes place to check whether any issue or mistakes occur in the bulk production. Normally 30-50 garments are cut and sewn for trail bulk production.
4. Bulk sample:
Bulk sample (production sample) is sent to the buyer from the bulk production for approval. The buyers wanted this sample to check the quality of the garment in bulk production and also for their satisfaction. This sample is termed as gold seal sample.
5. Shipment sample:
Garment samples are approved in the production sample but why the buyers prefer the shipment sample because to check the accessories are properly packed with the garment. After the approval of the shipment sample, the goods are ready to ship to the buyer.
